Hanging Basket and Trailing Fuchsia Varieties

Basket Bush Doubles Foliage Hardy Mail Order New Species Home

This group of fuchsias are ideal flowers for hanging baskets or trailing over the edge of tubs and containers. Hanging baskets are best planted with the same cultivar so that the growth pattern is even. A 10" basket will require three small plants and you should consider adding another plant for every 2" of extra basket size to ensure a good all round flower display. Trailing varieties are seen at their best in mixed plant hanging baskets or tumbling over the edge of containers.

AUNTIE JINKS - (Wilson 1970) Single. Sepals white edged cerise. Corolla cerise-purple with brighter edge. Excellent in a basket.

BERBAS TRIO - (Wesseling 1986) Single. Red upswept sepals with a corolla that opens either white, violet or white variegated purple. I have had this cultivar before and sometimes it reverts to red and purple. At its best when the corolla is variegated. Cuttings need to be taken from parts of the plant showing variegation. Stiff trailer.

*BLACK TO THE FUCHSIA - (At the moment I cannot find much info. on this variety.) It is semi-double with deep aubergine sepals and dark aubergine corolla on trailing growth. Very attractive and dark as well as an inspired name.
